Two exciting things happened to me today! I went downtown to the Pittsburgh Appointment Support Center to get my biometrics done for my VISA, and I got an email from Res Life about housing at Queen Mary.
My parents came with me to get my biometrics done. The man that helped me was really nice. He scanned my fingerprints twice with a fancy machine, and then he took my picture. I didn't realize they were going to take my picture and I was a little upset because I didn't do my makeup or hair. Anyway, the picture still would have been weird even if I had my hair and makeup done because I wasn't allowed to smile with teeth.
Let me tell you, I tried the closed smile thing for senior pictures, and it didn't look good.
In any case, I think the picture was okay. Hopefully I'll be using my passport for ID because I like that picture a lot better.
Now I have to send my passport and some documents to the British Consulate in New York. Then they send me my VISA and passport in about two weeks.
Queen Mary sent me an email with an offer for my housing in the fall. I have to accept it by July 28. I'm living in a Single Ensuite in Pooley House.
Pooley House is in Westfield Student Village in the Mile End section of campus. I should have my own bathroom and share a kitchen area with a few other people. Westfield Student Village description
I can't believe this is all really happening! It seems so real now. I can't wait to meet some cute British boys and perfect my British accent.
Yours,
MB
