[Day 19] Visiting UCL

Yesterday I had two classes and two seminars: Literatures in Time and Poetry. I like my Lit class even though we're reading old, kind of boring stuff, like Beowulf. But I like the seminar a lot, mostly the seminar leader. Poetry was okay, this was my first class so I had to figure it out. Next week might be better. Our professor is American though, she's from New York (I talked to her after class). I was kind of lost in our seminar because  I didn't know what we were talking about since I didn't know what the assignment was. I think that class will be interesting though because maybe it'll help me understand poetry better and then hopefully write it better.

After class I finished my reading for history and then Kate, Sammie and I took the bus to UCL to visit Kate's friend, Peter. UCL is University College London and I'm not exactly sure where it is, but it's somewhere in central London in a really nice area. It's a very expensive area too and seemed pretty touristy. It made me love QM even more because they don't have an enclosed campus like we have here. Even though QM isn't in central, it's close enough (15-20 minutes), isn't touristy and is cheap. The diversity gives it something that other areas of town don't have, it has character. 

UCL was in a really pretty area. Their academic buildings were huge and beautiful. We ate dinner at this cafe thing and I got a chocolate milkshake and pasta. Then we went to their student union for a little bit. We saw Peter's flat (I like mine better) and then decided to come back to QM. We went to the New Globe to see some people then came back to our flat to hang out. 

Alright this was a very short post, but I have to run to the bookstore to buy an English book. Then we're going to the 2012 Olympic site for a tour! So exciting! I think we're also going to Greenwich, where they're filming Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Johnny Depp ahh!! Anyway depending on what time I get back I'll post again and elaborate on UCL and post some pictures of the Olympic site and me with Johnny. :)
